FAQ
1. Just exactly what is a retractable screen door?
A retractable screen door is a home improvement product that is attached to the exterior face or to the interior frame of a doorway. The screening material itself is anchored to an aluminum roller tube and tension control device within the assembly's housing. The screen is pulled horizontally along a top and bottom rail to extend the screen across the door opening. Once deployed, the pull bar and screen are fixed in place by one or more magnets installed on the side opposite the housing. When not in use, the screen rolls back up into its housing.
The system can be installed on virtually any single entry door, including sliding doors. Using two complete assemblies, the system can be easily installed on French doors.
2. What are the benefits of a Clear View retractable screen versus a conventional screen door?
A Clear View retractable screen rolls out of its protective housing when you need it and smoothly retracts back when you don't. Conventional screens are permanently fixed in place via tracks or hinges and as a result, your view is always obstructed. Clear View has a patented "Safe-Glide" Speed Reducer™ that prevents damage and eliminates the slamming effect of other brands. This protects fingers and pets by significantly slowing the screen retraction.
3. What are motorized retractable power screens?
Motorized power screens are the perfect solution for porches, patios, verandas, garages, and balconies. With the Clear View MotionScreen you will be able roll your screen up and down at the touch of a button. Simply put, if you press the down button your screens roll down and seal the opening and when you press the up button, your screens will roll out of the way leaving you with an unobstructed view of your surroundings.
4. Where do you mount or install the retractable screen door?
Our retractable screens are mounted differently depending on the kind of door application in question. On standard single or double French doors, our retractable screens are installed on the outside of the brick mould and on the hinged side of the door. On all other doors our retractable screens are mounted on customized thresholds determined by the installer.
5. What happens to my existing sill or threshold?
Since all of our retractable screen installations are retrofitted, there is no need to modify or remove your existing sill. We use customized sill adapters to drop our track out of the way and give you a smooth, clean finish.
6. Can I install your product myself?
The installation of a retractable screen door system is not difficult; however, to comply with the terms of the warranty we must insist that our systems be installed by a certified ClearView installer.
Installation time depends on several factors, but most door systems can be installed in less than 2 hours.

11. What door sizes will this system fit?
A retractable door system can be installed on practically any single door frame measuring up to 110" in height and 60" in width. French door assemblies which can require the installation of two kits can be installed on openings up to 96" wide.
12. What is included with each system?
Each single door assembly kit will include the following:
- Patented "Safe-Glide" Speed Reducer™
- Powder-coated housing, pull bar, and rails in your chosen color
- Handle and fasteners in your chosen color
- Roller tube and screen
- Interior tension spring
- Weatherstripping
- Warranty
When two single doors are ordered for installation on a French door, the kit can include an extra magnet assembly and custom door pin-locks which allow the user to lock one of the doors in place while being able to use the other freely.
13. What is not included?
The only items not included in the individual kits are sill adapters, Decolum (top molding) and bug flaps. Sill adapters come in seven different shapes, and 5 colors (Gold is anodized).
Bug Seal is not included because in some areas of the country they simply are not needed.
14. Why use sill adapters at all?
Over 90% of all installations are custom fitted. The sill adapters provide a seamless blending of the new screen to your existing frame. In a great number of cases, the sill adapter is a necessary component for proper door operation. The sill adapter will not only improve the overall appearance of your new doorway, but serves to prevent damage to the railings that will be installed.
15. How do I maintain my system?
Because the system is designed with high grade materials and comes powder-coated there is little necessary maintenance; however, for those looking to maximize the life of their system, click here to review our maintenance recommendations.
16. What is the "SuperScreen" option?
The advanced technology called "SuperScreen" is setting the new standard for outdoor screen (up to 44" wide). It is resistant to tears, punctures, fading and mildew. "SuperScreen" outlasts traditional fiberglass screen.
17. What exterior finish will come on my screen system?
Clear View products are manufactured with a powder coated finish that is resistant to corrosion, heat, impact, abrasion, fading from sunlight and extreme weather. Powder coating looks like paint but acts like armor. It's tough, attractive and cost-effective, thus making it a far superior finish that will render years of service. Products are available in the following 10 standard colors:
